|You may have been reading about the importance of rainbow produce in your diet. “Eating the Rainbow” has been seen as very important for you so that you can get all of your vitamins and minerals.
And the Rainbow Diet isn't difficult to understand. Rather than trying to decipher the ever-shifting dietary requirements, the idea is to have as wide a variety (and color) of fruits and vegetables as possible.
However, while you may understand the importance of eating the rainbow, you may be having trouble getting the rainbow into your diet. Not sure how to do it? We have some answers.
Why Eat the Rainbow?
Research has demonstrated that eating the rainbow puts essential vitamins in your body. For example, Vitamin C helps promote healthy gums and blood circulation. Vitamin D is essential for calcium development and strong teeth. Citrus fruits protect your mouth from some forms of cancer, as well as diseases such as colds and flu.
Eating the rainbow means that you are working to improve your overall health, as well as your dental health. Rainbow diets work to prevent cancers, including mouth cancers. Clearly, eating the rainbow is a good idea for your body. But how do you go about eating the rainbow? Here are some simple tips.
You may want to try smoothies. Rather than the complicated ice cream, yogurt smoothies with a little fruit and a lot of sugar, the smoothies for your health should be chock full of as many fruits and veggies as possible, with honey to sweeten it.
Many different rainbow smoothie recipes are available on Pinterest. Another suggestion is to try to eat a different fruit and vegetable each day, so that by the end of the week, you will have eaten your way around the rainbow.
